FAQs

Why was Moselem Springs Golf Club built?
Hawley Quier, an advocate golfer and former publisher of the Reading Eagle in Reading, PA was swimming in the pond on the “family farm”, raised his head from the water, looked over the terrain, and said, what a wonderful natural setting for a golf course. Moselem is here today!

Who designed the golf course?
The course was designed and constructed by the acclaimed George Fazio. George had some help from his young nephew, Tom Fazio, who was just beginning his golf course design career.

“Moselem Springs was a very special place for my Uncle George and helped put the Fazio name on the map.” – Tom Fazio

How challenging is the golf course?
In the words of Moselem’s Golf Professional, Eric Shillinger, “the green complexes here at Moselem are among the toughest I’ve ever played.” In 2005, Moselem was selected to host a U.S. Open Qualifier. In the entire field of PGA Club and Tour Professionals, not one player broke par at Moselem. The low qualifier was PGA Tour player Sean O’Hair with a score of 71. That speaks for itself. However, the four different tee lengths offer their own unique challenge for each individual.

What types of grasses were used for the fairway and greens and how is the course irrigated?
The fairways of Moselem are a Rye-Poa blend. Both the greens and tees are a Bent-Poa blend. These particular grasses offer a phenomenal putting and hitting surface for the golfer to be challenged. Moselem waters its surface through a double line computerized irrigation system. This is to ensure the best quality in course conditions.

What about practice facilities?
The six acre practice facility is located just off the first tee. The facility offers a grass hitting area with multiple targets. A short game area for pitching, chipping, bunker and putting practice is also available. The range is equipped with a state of the art launch monitor, computer teaching analysis, and the latest club manufactures fitting equipment for your game improvement.

Are carts and caddies available?
Carts are a necessary part of golf today. However, after 2 p.m. walking is permitted, with you carrying your own golf bag, a challenge itself. Caddies are not available at the present time.

How many rounds are played annually at Moselem?
Based on our past few years of operation, the Club averages 13,000 rounds per year.

What about maintenance of the course?
Tim O’Neil, our Grounds Superintendent, along with his crew, his knowledge, and 28 years of experience at Moselem have enabled Moselem’s maintenance program to rival those of the best courses in the country.

When did the course open?
